Watsonny, the body of the tank is made from plastic fireworks 'mortar' shells. I buy them on line from fireworks supply stores. They come in all sizes and are in two halves, which makes them great to work with. The legs are from some Lego stuff and the rest is just random bits and plastic sheets, rods, and tubes.
G-Brand, I guess the scale would be 28mm "Heroic" as it is intended for gaming with GW Warhammer 40k and Orks. It measures out @ about 12.5 cm tall and the ball is about 6.5cm in dia. The base is 13cm in dia.
wow, it sure does! I didn't know what an ice tick, or shadow raiders was so I goggled em'. And you sir, are correct; it sure does look like an 'ice tick' . But I assure you it was just blind luck. there's just so much you can do that is truly original I guess.
I have been making a lot of my 'BALL TANK' design models and I am trying to give them a rest and work on other designs. The original intent of this piece was to take a sphere and make a walker out of it. My first idea was to make the top half of the vehicle the the crew/ weapon compartment, and the bottom half, the engine and leg compartment. I wanted to have the bottom half divided so it would completely encompass all the lower 'stuff' and could be closed up to form a complete sphere or ball. But I decided I didn't like the way the bottom armored skin/shell looked, so this is what I ended up with...anyway, thanks for the comments. later...b.
